Japan : Home of Yayoi Kusama and beautiful far flung museums worth your visit

We have such phenomenal experiences witnessing Yayoi Kusama's artwork in person while at the Singapore National Art Gallery. Here are some in Japan right at the top of our bucket list.

1. Yayoi Kusama Museum

Open in 2017, we missed this so many times! We couldn't stress more that you are advised to purchase tickets online and ideally do it weeks ahead!

The museum is admission by appointed time and only 90 mins allowed per visit.

2. Naoshima Island, Kagawa, Japan

We did further research and discovered delight that this little island is dotted with modern art museums, architecture and sculptures! Making it more charming is its atmosphere of sandy beaches, sunny weather, laid back and rural Japanese town, no wonder this is becoming one of the more popular city getaway for Tokyo and Osaka dwellers.

3. Echigo-Tsumari, Niigata, Japan

"Tsumari in Bloom" according to Yayoi Kusama is one of her favorite outdoor sculptures ever created. This is a less traveled location and certainly one for the fans to check out and experience the outdoor beauty of the field surrounded by various type of arts.

Iconic cities and museums around the world are also destinations where you can view Yayoi Kusama's artwork, from London, New York to Canberra until 2021.
