Top 3 places to view Salvador Dali

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

To be able to travel is a blessing and to immerse in beautiful spaces and of intriguing artworks makes it an even more memorable trip!

Here are the best 3 places to experience some of the most extensive collection and life's works of Salvador Dali!

We should obviously start with Dali's hometown of course!

Dali build his own museum by refurbishing the Figueres Municipal Theatre, which was almost destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. For an authentic experience, where else but to start at Salvador Dali’s hometown at the Teatro Museo or Dali Theatre-Museum.

Pro tip : Make your visit even better and discover spaces and places where Dali use to hangout with his friends!

This was such a romantic story and of lifelong friendship, it is top of our bucket list to visit for sure!

In 1942, Albert Reynolds and Eleanor Morse visited a traveling Dalí retrospective at the Cleveland Museum of Art organized by the MoMA in New York and became fascinated with the artist’s work. On March 21, 1943, they bought their first Dalí painting, Daddy Longlegs of the Evening, Hope! (1940) as their own wedding gift. On April 13, 1943, the Morses met Salvador Dalí and his wife Gala in New York initiating a long, rich friendship. The first of many acquisitions and displaying Dali paintings in their home. This would culminate 40 years later in one of the most extensive and significant addition to its collection over the years. (Source: The Dalí Museum, Florida, USA)

However the collection outgrew the spaces and they were looking to find a permanent home to keep the collection intact. In 1980, James W. Martin, a lawyer from St Petersburg, Florida, campaign to the city to build a permanent space and the couple donated their entire collection to the city.

We cannot WAIT to make this trip soon!!!

Finally, we were pleasantly surprise with a discovery of a hidden gem in Israel....

(believe it or not, we had to Google this location!)

Dali was probably more known for his paintings. For us, it is refreshing to know that there is a collection of Dali's work as a multidisciplinary artist who made a variety of sculptures with different mediums, which you can discover at the Caesarea Ralli Museum in Israel.

Voilá! We hope this will make it to your itinerary and do email us to share your experience or ideas with us too!
